Vin # Registrations for Class A, B, B+, and C Motor Homes in Ontario

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario announced a formal policy change on May 19, 2011 to ORVDA’s Executive Vice President, Larry Boyd and Executive Assistant, Shannon O’Callaghan as follows:

All recreation vehicle motorized production in Ontario can be registered based on the model year of the second stage of manufacturing or coach portion.
This change became effective on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at all Motor Vehicle Licence offices across Ontario.
The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario is in the process of finalizing the documentation and wording for this policy change and this should be received at the ORVDA office in the next 2-3 weeks, however I reiterate that the policy is in effect and all licence offices should be aware of the change.

In addition, the secondary stage does not require a 17 digit Vin # and can be verified through the bill of sale or other means as to the valid model year.

This is a breakthrough for Ontario RV Dealers on a long standing policy that served only to hamper the sale and re-sale of all motorized product in this Province.

Here are the Ministry of Transportation web links to the policy,

Please contact Larry Boyd or Shannon O’Callaghan for more information.
