Government of Ontario emergency orders extended to April 23rd
On Saturday, April 11th, the Government of Ontario extended all orders under s.7.0.2 (4) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act until April 23, 2020. This includes the closure of non-essential workplaces, as well as outdoor amenities in parks and recreational areas.
New measures were also introduced to restrict recreational camping on Crown land, and allow existing buildings and temporary structures to be repurposed. The following are of particular interest to the RV community:
- Recreational camping on Crown land prohibited: As of April 9, 2020, no individual can camp on Crown land, including the placement of tents or other camping structures, while the order is in effect.
- Repurposing existing buildings; constructing temporary structures: To help communities quickly meet local needs, it will be easier to repurpose existing buildings and construct temporary structures. The intent is to reduce pressure on health care facilities and help shelters provide more space for sleeping to maintain the physical distancing requirements to reduce the spread of the virus.
